5/12/84 - Saturday
Moving day - what mixed feelings! It's hard to leave the house you've lived in for 9 yrs. We have so many good memories of the good times we have had here. Yet, it is exciting to think of the new venture that await us in Maine. We were up at 6:00 in order to be ready when our help arrived at 8:00. Jerry + Sue Daughtry, Joe Worsham, Pat Moran, + all from Tony's school - came w/their pick-ups + Joe also had a large trailer on the back of his truck. Jerry Frensck also helped + Haven Sweet came came for a while to help. Sue Daughtry brought lunch.
Everything went pretty smoothly - 3 trips + all the major things were in storage. Sue helped clean the rooms as they were cleaned out - she was a super help.
All of the kids had games. I took Todd + Shelli to the Little League field around 8:30. Eric went w/Sweats to the game + then he went out to Pizza Hut w/them + then on to Jeff's. We didn't see him until around 6:00. I went up to the L.L field to pick up Todd + Shelli around 2:00. From there Sue, the kids + I went over to the Oviedo Lodge to check out our new accommodations. What a 6 weeks this is going to be! There is a place to hang our clothes, but it is not an enclosed closet. Also, in the 2 rms. there are only 4 drawers. No place for silverware - stuck in a cup. Only 2 plates. Oh well, maybe will eat a lot.
Our help left around 6:30 or 7:00. I tidied up the kitchen while Tony + kids took the animals down to Bakers. I'm sure going to miss Sadie + Trio. Sadie was acting very strange today. She knew something was amiss. I was upset too - was very teary while Tony + kids were at Bakers. We took a van load of stuff to the motel, dropped the kids off to start baths, + went to McDonalds + brought food back to motel. We were so tired that even these beds (a mattress on a board) felt good.
